This contemporary space in South Manchester is slightly different from most gardens in that it contains no paving.
Instead the client opted for a large hardwood deck which was angled to mirror the architecture of the new extension to the property.
Cantilever hardwood deck steps seem to hover over the wildlife pond and lead down to a bespoke timber pergola, which in turn frames the gravel patio. This pergola was painted black to match the bespoke fencing and included a custom steel log store.
The client was keen to invite wildlife into the garden with abundant planting, access for hedgehogs within the fencing and the natural style water feature.
At the far end of this garden we installed a large steel-frame workshop. This structure followed the environmentally friendly ethos of the garden by using steel ground screws instead of concrete as its foundation, and the exterior was clad in rough sawn treated timber painted black to blend with its surroundings.
