This West Lancashire garden was designed by Robert Hughes Studio in 2022 and was constructed by Vision Landscapes in 2023.
The concept for this garden was based around family life whilst maintaining a clean, contemporary aesthetic.
Main features of the rear space include a bespoke pavilion covering an outdoor living area, including a custom made concrete outdoor kitchen with built in appliances, micro-cement rendered fireplace and liquid metal waterfall into a deep water rill. To finish the space surround sound speakers and infra red heaters were installed above the outdoor kitchen. This provides the ability to use the garden throughout the year.
Another main feature of the garden was a second bespoke pergola structure, housing a spa area consisting of a hardwood deck surrounding a sunken hot tub and ice plunge bath.
One of the great successes of this garden was the children’s play area. Constructed with a bespoke steel frame and thermowood cladding, it showcases that gardens can be highly functional and still be stylish and contemporary.
Also included in this project was the private front garden and driveway, which was screened with instant evergreen Taxus hedging and mature trees.
The drive surface was a smooth resin bound aggregate, framed with bespoke metal edging, clay paver pathways and sleek porcelain inserts leading to the front door.
Lush, low maintenance planting softens the hard landscaping and adds depth to the space and the scheme incorporates a full lighting and electrical system.
